![]() In web design, animation refers to the process of creating an illusion of motion through visual effects. Its use continued to evolve with other new computer languages introduced like HTML5, CSS3, etc., making it easier for designers to make better-performing animations. Since the advent of technologies like Adobe Flash and JavaScript, animations have also started to be present in web design. This is included under the general umbrella term for computer animation nowadays as CGI or computer-generated imagery and includes both static and dynamic (moving) images. Computer animation is a digital successor of stop motion techniques, and nowadays despite the two-dimensional (2D) model animation, other modern techniques like 3D are used to create more advanced animations. This is the age when computer animation started becoming an essential tool in the film industry, with the first full-length animated film created entirely using computer animation being “Toy Story” produced by Pixar Animation Studios. On the other hand, the modern era of animation, also known as the renaissance age of American animation, started around the 1980s. Of the first to create an animated film in America is James Stuart Blackton, who in the year 1900 created “The Enchanted Drawing” an animated sequence recorded for the first time on standard picture film, which later also got him the title as one of the fathers of animation. This was the dominant form of animation in cinemas until the advent of computer animation. What is known as traditional animation, required animators to draw on transparent celluloid paper each frame by hand in order to create an animated sequence. When we turn back to the beginnings of animation, the process of creating an animated video was more complicated and requested a lot of human effort.
